About the TLtC

Background

The UC Teaching, Learning and technology Center (TLtC) was established in July 2000 as a virtual center-without-walls for two primary purposes: (1) to provide systemwide visibility to campus and faculty efforts in the development and use of teaching and learning technologies and (2) to provide complementary support to leverage those efforts for the benefit of the entire University.

To accomplish these objectives two programs were established: the TLtC collaborative grants program, which awarded small and large grants to support intercampus collaborations in incorporating teaching and learning technologies (due to the budget crisis, the grants program was suspended in 2004); and the TLtC Webzine and Online Forum, a web publication that launched in December 2001. In addition to feature articles and news stories about how technology is used in teaching and learning at UC, the Webzine includes links to educational technology resources across the system, as well as a database of faculty uses of technology. This publicly accessible database is designed to enable faculty to connect with one another to learn more about strategies and tools as well as to collaborate on projects.

The TLtC staff works very closely with faculty and instructional technology professionals on all of the UC campuses. This web site was developed with intensive campus input and will continue to be shaped by campus interests, activities and needs.
